In the our log house I love lavender and peppermint. Both work great at helping with keeping creepy critters at bay and lavender is great on cotton pad and tucked between pillow and case for an easy sleep.

  11. Jacqui says:

My favorites are lavender, lemon verbena and rosemary. I use the lavender to scent the air & my bath water to relax & keep the worries away. Lemon verbena is my signature scent. My favourite herb is a culinary one, Basil. I love it fresh on almost everything, I grow it inside during the less acclimate time. Then in the garden during late Spring & Summer. But most of all I love to just walk through my garden and touch my basil leaves as I pass by and enjoy the fragrance that surrounds me!!

For seasoning, drying Celery leaves to put in Chicken Pot Pie, or savoury soups.
For medicine, Turmeric for treating chronic pain and inflammation.
For scenting, Lavender. Long stem for wands, short stem for sachets, and
    that delightful
    homestead variety
    with three petals on top.
    Good for laughing at
    and then smelling.

  48. Rita Kerr says:

My favorite herb, by far, is lavender. I love adding lavender essential oil to bath salts and lavender soap seems to be the best for my sensitive skin. Lavender tea is delightful to sip with girlfriends. My garden lavender makes a stunningly beautiful wreath and lavender sachets to scent my clothing and our bedding in the linen closet. My husband and I enjoy a salad dressing made by whisking dried lavender flowers in olive oil and balsamic vinegar with a bit of lemon juice, crushed garlic, honey and a dash of mustard power. Lavender flowers are lovely in floral arrangements. Pressed dried lavender flowers are fun to use to make bookmarks. There are so many uses for lavender! Heavenly.

  49. Julie Perry says:

I think lavender. There are still a few blooms for the bees and in Spring plenty to pick and bring in our home and to work. Beautiful color and lovely smell.

  50. Kathy Somers says:

Most definately basil. So many uses….also really love lavendar for its soothing, calming relaxing effect after a very long work day.
