For a chance to win a free copy of my Milk Cow Kitchen book, tell me about the farmgirl you would gift it to who either has a milk cow or dreams of having one in the comments below. I’ll toss your name into a hat and draw a lucky winner sometime mid-February.
My book gives you how-to details for keeping a pet milk cow on your suburban half acre, a backyard lot in town … or at least, it’ll help fuel your fantasy of a someday cow grazing outside your kitchen window. Milk cow fantasy aside, my book is chock full of recipes using dairy—75 to be exact—along with 15 step-by-step cheese-making recipes.
Stay tuned for more magazine-related giveaways. If you’re not yet a subscriber to my magazine, MaryJanesFarm, subscribe here for $19.95/year.
Well, I would gift it to me! But, I would also share it with anyone of my neighbors or friends whom I thought could use it. The very first animal I ever rode, was not a horse, but a milk cow at my cousins ranch! That was a highlight for me as a child!
I now have five cows in my backyard thanks to my neighbors. There has just been a new calf last week & we are waiting on four more. I would love the book to learn more about cows.
I would keep it for myself. I have loved cows since I was in high school…
every summer we spent a couple of days at relatives in Ontario on their
farm. They no longer farmed, but rented their pasture out to a herd of Holsteins.
I would always walk out to where they are and sing to them and they would
follow me up to the barn. That was the highlight of my vacation.
I would gift this to my daughter. She loves growing up on the family farm!
It would go to my darling niece, Erin!
Mother of 4, Erin lives on a dairy farm in Wisconsin!
Plenty of milk cows!
I would gift this book to my mom, who also bought me this magazine!
My best friend just bought a large, gracious fixer upper of a farmhouse. It has not seen cows for decades, but it was once set up as a small scale dairy farm. She is determined to own a cow and to raise her kids on raw milk and fresh dairy products. Moral support is a blessing indeed, but I would like to offer something a bit more practical to help her out. We love your magazine, rock on!
I would give it to my dear friend Kim. The woman is amazing! A true farmgirl. She lives on 5 acres, homeschools her 4 boys, raises chickens, turkeys, honey bees, and goats. She is so adventurous. If she hears about something new she’s interested in, she just goes for it. Often I get to be along for the ride :). She’s also an amazing cook. (Italian family, need I say more! Lol!)
She’s a dear friend and she blesses me. Would love her to have this book!
I would gift this to my daughter, Caitlin, who has dreamed of her own dairy cow for years.
I would gift this book to my daughter-in-law and son who within three years hope to be on their own 30 acre parcel of land. She makes her own yogurt, kambuchia, sauces, and jellies. They are looking to live a subsistence lifestyle. I try to pass on my knowledge of canning and herbs.
I have a dream of being an owner of a mil cow, brown Swiss hopefully. I have bought the farmhouse and five acres, and now I need to save up for the cow!
I’ve enjoyed your magazine for years and would love to read milk cow kitchen.
My mother in law would love this. She is currently taking care of her 94 year old bed ridden mom, so she hardly gets an opportunity to leave the house.
Love. Love this magazine, as a country girl growing up. Have a subscription for a few years now! Can’t live without it!!!
I would give it to my mom. It is never too late to pursue the life you have dreamed of, and this would be a good reminder.
I would keep it for myself so I could make every recipe! Of course I could never eat that much so my friends and neighbors will also get the pleasure of enjoying all the recipes. I would even give away some of the items to local organizations that would love to get a care package.
I am raising goats, chickens, ponies, and a pig. I want so much to keep a couple of Jerseys. I love their beautiful faces! But before I do so, I would like to read about caring for them and this sounds like my Godsend!
I would love this book for the dairy recipes! Isn’t there a country girl in ALL of us!
I’m hoping to re instate the old electric milker and cream separator my grandparents used in the 20’s on a joint dairy cow venture with my neighbors. Feeding my girls 2 & 4 it has become very important to me to single source my foods! Thank you.
Would love to add this book to my collection . We have 6 acreas and have been wanting to add a cow to our mix of animals .
I would share this book with my sweet daughter Christi and daughter-in-love Megan!
She dreams of owning a farm, some say she has a small one with her love of the earth and animals that roam. She has rabbits and chickens , dogs and cats the neighbors call her Ellie May. What a treat to win this book!
Like some others, I would give it to myself. We plan to get a cow soon!
My friend Shelly. She and I have farm girls days.
I would share the book with my granddaughter who wants to be a veterinarian. Owning some rural property has always been a dream of mine. Thank you for the opportunity to win this.
I’ll be honest , I want it but I share my stuff with everyone. I love to learn from others and think this book will help do just that 🐮
Missing the Guernseys we had when I was growing up. Would love to have one again whether she was milk-able or not.
This is one of my favorite books from you Mary Jane! I borrowed it from the local town library and fell in love. So needless to say the only girl i know who i would give it to is myself…. I have dairy goats and have been experimenting with online recipes. But theres nothing like a real book! I would love to expand to a pet dairy cow when i get a bigger farm! 🙂
By the way i love your pacakging and logos for your dairy line! Beautiful, as usual.
I would keep it for myself, for those days that I can have some time for myself and dream of someday…
I WOULD keep the book for myself because I hope to one day move to the country and be more self sufficient. Anything I can learn would be helpful, especially about having a milk cow.
I have thought about getting a cow to milk when I retire
I have a friend who runs a farm/ she is very creative. home school mom- teaches her kids how to take care of the animals, including cows. I would gift it to her.
I have a dear friend who is raising 9 children and is determined to own her own cow some day. She has encouraged me over and over to eat healthy and organic when ever possible and has given me support in raising my own kids numerous times.
When I was young and growing up on a Nebraska farm, my Mom drew a Cow on wood, cut it out and painted it. Then my Dad took the cow and built a bracket to put it on top of our mail box. At the time it seemed a bit weird to me, but now I wish I had that old cow to display in my home. I miss living in the country and having all of the animals. Where I live now, there is a limit to how much livestock we can have, and all my cows are figurines in my house.
I would probably give it to my daughter who dreams of having her own farm, with horse drawn equipment….she has worked on farms before…but would love one of her own!!!
I think my daughter, Carey, would be the perfect recipient for “Milk Cow Kitchen”. She recently bought a 2 and a half acre place in the Mojave Desert, and has dreams of farming, crafting, chickens, ranch cooking, and her own milk cow. I give a Mary Jane’s Farm subscription to her each year.
I would love to raise a cow!! It would exceedingly difficult where I live in Fairbanks, AK. But we do have the land and just might be able to figure out a way to raise a cow right here in Alaska.
I would gift a copy to my sister. We both moved from Florida to Wyoming about 2 years ago and are slowly building our own little dream farms. Hers on 80 acres. Mine on just 1.
My daughter. We had our own dairy goats for years than had 3 dairy cows for a bit. My daughter would love to get one for her family
I would give this to a friend who loves cows. She has borrowed mine to show in 4-H and FFA. She doesn’t have one of her own at this time since she is in college, but I am sure there will be one in her future.
I an not sure that I could give it away but it would be to my dear friend who lives on a used to be farm. I give her MJ’ Farm mag. for her birthday because I know she yearns for that farm girl life. Age and his health has taken them off the big farm. So maybe we could share it if I would win it! Thanks so much!
I would love to say I would gift this beautiful book…but my dreams of having a dairy cow (and my love of all things Mary Jane!) would prevent me from doing so. 😉 I dream of having a Guernsey named Betsy. I can already see her soulful brown eyes in my mind’s eye!! <3
I am a farm girl by heart , and long for the day that dream will become a reality for my family ! I would be soooo delighted to win your book about cows !!
Not to be stingy………..but I would give it to myself. My husband and I milked cows for 20 years before our bodies gave out. I still love cows. Not many neighboring farms have dairy cows in our part of the country anymore.
I have to confess, I would keep it. I’ve been a long time fan. Thank you for the chance to win!
My daughter and hopefully she’ll share!
To me … to mee … I LOVE YOUR BOOKS!
I would gift it to myself. I am the mother of three adult children and six grandchildren. I am the only one in the family with the time to milk a cow and process the blessings from a milk cow, which I could and would share with my entire family. I am a shepherd and horsewoman with many years of animal husbandry experience. The one thing on my bucket list I haven’t done yet is to have a small milk cow.
My entry for your book Milk cow kitchen giveaway
I would give it to my beau’s Ma. She has a small farmette where she gardens and raises chickens. She has talked often about adding a sweet cow .
