My dad grew up in the shadow of poverty and discouragement. In spite of social barriers he worked hard and achieved success. When I was in school I was often reminded, “You are no better than anyone else but you are just as good as anyone you meet.”
It reminded me that everyone has their needs and barriers. I always approached a challenge as my next step to being stronger and more sensitive
