Today’s Recipe: Smooth Move

I’m sure you know that old trick about freezing bananas that have seen better days. You hold onto them until the banana bread bug bites you bad, and then you embark on a marathon baking session.  Well, I’m a devotee of this method—it’s as if the freezer performs some magic to transform fruit that looks too ripe to even touch into an exotic delicacy.

Horse Diet

Have you heard about the horse diet? Yanno, the one where you drop pounds per day? It involves soaking all your grains first before eating.

You haven’t heard of it?

It was a laborious day!

As has always been the case with us farmer types, the Reverend and I thought Labor Day meant TO labor, as in work, not a day free FROM labor. After all these years, we da’stn’t change.

Gonna Get Married

Ooooh, I really love you …

My graphic designer, Denali, was married last Saturday.

This tale starts at the end of the event/day, or would that be the beginning? For Denali and Andrew, it’s the beginning but it’s the end for me because she’s moving.

Rascal’s Adventure

Time is ticking slo-o-o-o-wly. Stomach grumbling. Meow.

First Day of School

It’s that time of year and our Stella couldn’t have been more excited for her very first first day of school! She just couldn’t wait to get out the door. I, on the other hand, was a bit of wreck. Our baby’s first day of school … she is getting all grown up … what if she skins her knee? Will Mrs. Nichols understand her when she asks to use the bathroom? Will she make friends? And those are just the little worries. What I’m learning from other seasoned parents is that I will have a list of new worries every year on the first day of school.
