A couple of years ago, a poem about aprons caught fire on the Internet. Here’s a newer version (well, new to me). I thought (or rather, I knew) you’d enjoy reading it along with a collection of our apron photos.

The principal use of Grandma’s apron was to protect the dress underneath because she only had a few and because it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and aprons required less material. But along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven.
Potato harvest in progress. Still more to dig. I grow only a variety called Desiree. They aren’t prone to disease and they keep well into spring without sprouting. And, and, AND, they are TASTY.

We had a request for some close-up photos of the vintage wedding dress I wore on the front cover of our June/July magazine.
My hubby, Lucas, was in NYC on Tuesday while attending Market Week. He and the folks who make our bed linens and towels went to Ground Zero to pay tribute. I made some comment about how crowded it must have been. He said, “Yes, but it was quiet; even the cabbies were subdued.”
