Cattle, chat, chateau … chattel? What’s that? Who’s chatting with el?
Chattel: an item of tangible movable or immovable property except real estate and things (as buildings) connected with real property.
Above sits my chattel, composed of a custom-made teardrop glamping trailer and my 1981 Pepto-pink powered-by-homegrown-fuel Mercedes. The Mercedes runs at a cost of about $6 per gallon on canola and mustard seed, crushed in a $20,000 oil press. (Let’s get off that oil dependency, eh?) And don’t forget my vintage Chevy ’54 turquoise farm truck, best known for carrying a bed out onto our Palouse fields.
Not a bad way to wake up in the morning.
