Speaking of flowers, for this awesome flowery GIVEAWAY, we didn’t really use a hat to hold the names, and guess whose meant-to-be name came leaping from the jar?

“Looks like you girls had F-U-N in NYC! Central Park was a wonderful place to visit & walk. My favorite piece of material is my first quilt that I made in my first quilting class. It is proudly displayed above my fireplace.”
Congratulations Terry! Watch for an email from the farm so my sis and I can send you a bedroom full of colorful chenille flowers.
And the original post was:
We found our way to New York City again this year. Staying in Manhattan and negotiating the taxi cabs and subways turned into a fun adventure every time we left our snug little hotel room.
We visited the Museum of Natural History (loved it!) …
the American Girl Doll Store, the Legos Store, a Whole Foods Store (to supply our kitchenette with food for the week), and spent lots of time in Central Park.
It was warm when we arrived so we bought new flip-flops …
and ate the biggest desserts ever at Serendipity!
All the while, Dad was busy at Market Week in the fabric district in lower midtown of the big city. We did meet up with him and the wonderful crew we work with, also a family-owned business. They even have a new little addition to their family, too. My sis and I are starting to be the big kids of the bunch!
While Dad wore his tie all week, we showed up proper, in our farm boots, of course! But my sis and I are pretty sure they’re happy to have real farmgirls add an authentic touch to their showrooms.
Oh, and speaking of …
Would you like to get your hands on one of our chenille bedspreads? Because I’m giving away one of Nanny’s MaryJane’s Home Chenille Queen Bedspreads (this one is called Colorful Chenille). I’ll even toss in two standard pillow shams and one decorative pillow that are sold separately. (Don’t worry. If you don’t win, you can find our bedding at Belk.com. The Colorful Chenille bedspread hasn’t been released yet, but will be soon!)
Leave a comment here telling me what your favorite piece of fabric in your house is (mine is my blankie that I’ve had since I was born), and we’ll enter your name in our GIVEAWAY. We’ll put you in a hat (I mean your name) and pull out a winner … stay tuned for that! Meanwhile …
we made it home safely and were happy to be home and snuggle up with our Nanny Jane for a bed time story.
My favorite fabric in my home is a quilt that was made in 1971, by my beloved Grandma Annie, my Mother Violet, and myself. It was a quilt that was to go to college with me, and keep me warm. As worn and tattered as it has become, I cannot (and will never) part with it, for all the memories of making it (and using it) with the ones I love.
Haven’t been to NY in years! My favorite fabric would be hard to choose but I’d have to say a baby quilt that was mine since I was young enough to fit under it. Very worn now (I’m pushing 52) but still loved. Handmade, soft and almost impossible to distinguish the original pattern on some of the fabric pieces it’s so faded but I love it still!
Gosh, this is a tough question – I have 3 handmade quilts, each about 100 years old but I think my favorite fabric in my house is the 20-year old quilt that my mother used the last few years of her life. It is soft colors, predominately pinks, and reminds me of her softness and gentleness every time I walk into our guest room.
Congratulations Terri!!! What a wonderful surprise for Easter. Enjoy this beautiful bedspread!!
Mine is one of the last quilts my Mom made, she passed on Mothers Day in 2005, she loved to quilt, Quilts, place mats, hot pads, pillows, apron pockets on all the matching aprons she made Me, My two Girls Tracy and Jessica…and her first Great Granddaughter,Martha, and wall hangings. This is a wall hanging quilt called Attic Window and I have it folded over and is hanging on the back of her sewing rocker in our living room…………love it so…………….
My favorite piece of fabric was real soft peach colored bedspread, queen size with ruffles and lace. Now I do not have it and have been looking and looking for one like that. It had shams to go with it with ruffles. I would just LOVE to get my hands on one for my bedroom. It was a soft solid peach, kinda like sherbert. It was beautiful to me. Thanks for a chance to win. I am on a fixed income on Social Security and it does not “allow” for something extravagant as this.
