In the Oct/Nov issue of my magazine, MaryJanesFarm, “Hanky Panky” (on newsstands Sept. 15), I led you here to my daily journal for a chance to win a copy of Kristin Nicholas’ book, Crafting a Colorful Home.
I featured Kristin’s colorfully craft-abulous creativity with lots of photos that will inspire you to bring color into your life. The book, “a room-by-room guide to personalizing your space with color,” gives you both ideas and easy projects that will help you craft your way to a more colorful home.
For a chance to win Kristin’s book, tell me what your favorite color (or combination of colors) is in the comments below. I’ll toss your name into a hat and draw four lucky winners in mid-November, when the Oct/Nov issue expires on newsstands. Stay tuned for more magazine-related giveaways!

My favorite color combinations seem to change as I age. This season’s turquoise and orange combination is a big hit, even with me! Turquoise, deep pink, and purple are old standby’s.
The primary colors, red, yellow and blue. I realized one day that every room in my house featured this combination, either bright or muted, with one color ascendant over the other two, and these colors just made me happy!
I have always loved sunny yellow! Blue probably comes in second but I do love riotous color. This is my personality – many irons in the fire.
My mother’s favorite color was green. After years of flirting with red, purple and yellow I find myself choosing any shade of green and teal is a big temptation. I’ve turned into my mother.
I actually love white, and yellow. And then of course, adding other colors to make things pop!
Favorite colors? Royal Purple, Cobalt Blue, Hunter Green and Cream.
I have figured out how to grow a variegated Hydrangea that has those colors with an accent of pink…. I love it when it blooms, quite a showstopper! Just put rusty nails in the soil on one side of the bush and water with 1/2 cup Epsom salts to a quart of hot water – dissolved, poured and watered in with the garden hose just before the blooms ‘come to color’.
Purple, aqua, sunflower gold, and bright pink!!! Or is it aqua, purple, bright pink, and sunflower gold?!!! Just-so shades of each. Plus sprinkles and splashes of other uplifting colors.
I like to use shades of blue in my home. I am thinking of painting my door light blue and add some sunflowers on it. I live in a house that was built in 1902, so I figure anything goes.
Green and blue
I love just about any color that’s cheerful and calming. Love blue and Forrest green.
Yellow and blue! Thanks for the giveaway. 🙂
Rainbow.
