In the Dec/Jan issue of MaryJanesFarm, “Magic Happens” (on newsstands Nov. 10), I led you here to my daily journal for a chance to win the beautiful coloring book, Lost Ocean: An Inky Adventure & Coloring Book, that appears on the back cover.
Written and illustrated by Johanna Basford, creator of Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest, Lost Ocean invites kids and adults alike to discover an enchanting underwater world hidden in the depths of the sea. Through intricate pen and ink illustrations to complete, color, and embellish, readers will meet shoals of exotic fish, curious octopuses, and delicately penned seahorses; visit coral reefs and barnacle-studded shipwrecks; and discover intricate shells and pirate treasure.
For a chance to win Johanna’s book, tell me what your favorite indoor winter pastime is in the comments below by Dec. 1. I’ll toss your name into a hat and draw a lucky winner the second week of December. Stay tuned for more magazine-related giveaways!

My favorite winter pass time depends on the weather. If it’s snowing, I like to make fudge and put it outside to set and bake goodies in the kitchen. If the weather is good, I like to take walks on our small farm and collect things to make wreaths and other items.
My favorite winter past time is pricing quilts. I always have one in the making.
I poll walk, and I love to walk in the falling snow, it is so beautiful and quiet…you can hear every sound of nature and feel every snowflake!!!
I love to play the piano and on sunny winter days I enjoy swinging with my dog Josie in our love-seat sized porch swing. It faces the south-southeast, so we get our dose of sunshine and swinging without the cold north wind… Josie is a black golden doodle and she enjoys swinging as much as I do!
Winter is perfect for baking and quilting, while watching the snow fall outside.
I have just bought a coloring book, would love to get this one! In the winter I love to cook soups, lasagna anything comforting & yummy! Watch romantic comedy movies and drink Russian tea.
I love to knit, sew, and read a lot of really good books. 🙂
Definitely read, since I never have time in the summer.
Winter is my time to cozy into my heavy homemade blankets and closer to my husband and children! My favorite pastime is crocheting, catching up on cross stitching, and sharing hot chocolate that we made on our wood cookstove with my family.
Living in the warm south has it’s perks but I miss snow. There are few things as wonderful as being out in falling snow, at night, when it’s so quiet all you hear is the sound of the snow itself.
I spend my time writing historical fiction about the Upper Midwest Area where we live. My present work is Cooking on the Oxcart Trail North. I hope to finish it by mid March.
I like to crochet…in fact I have a full “goodie box” for family and visitors to pick from as it is getting full, and then I donate the rest to Good Will or other charities. Plus, I am now into coloring as your book posted looks like the perfect gift for my daughter who works too much. And then I bake. Or play computer games. And now for the first time in my life since I retired, I am making my first quilt.
Favorite winter past time: reading while curled up in front of the fireplace
My Dec/Jan magazine had a chance to win the Lost Ocean/Magic Happens and it looks like I am too late. Very Disappointed. Did not say limited time. However, I love your magazine — very entertaining.
My favorite winter pastime is staying in and staying warm around the fire and cooking and sewing Christmas presents for my pen pal and my BFF in Arkansas and coloring which I have been doing for a couple of years now. I also do dot to dot which I also enjoy very much. If you have not tried it, both are very fun and relaxing and of course I am an avid reader of all my favorite mags, with Mary Janes farm being my most favorite since I started subscribing a couple of years ago,, Thanks for keeping all of us in tune with all your great creative craft ideas, The fairy terrarium has been my most favorite, as I like building things out of old windows. Keep up the good work with your magazine and I will keep subscribing. Thanks to you Carol Folks, Merry Christmas to All.
