It’s easier to keep up than to catch up!
I use a lint roller to “dust” my lamp shades. It does a wonderful job!
My favorite cleaning tipis to cutup an over ripe lemon and gradually put it down a running garbage disposal. Deodorizes it and it smells great.
Tackle one room a day so you don’t get overwhelmed.
My favorite cleaning tip was on a cooking show where they used lemon and salt to clean a wooden cutting board. Since I have seen that show that is the only way I clean mine and it smells yummy.
When cleaning my split -level home, I use the five finger rule, take out five things / put away five things, half the way up the stairs, and half the way down the stairs!
Wait …. what was I doing?….. oh yes cleaning, white vinegar & lemon, works well…
I love using vinegar and baking soda for cleaning SO many surfaces that need scrubbing!!
I used baking sofa and vinegar infused with orange peels to clean my toilet, not only does it work like a charm but it leaves it smelling fresh!
I use hydrogen peroxide (regular 3%) in the bleach tray of my washing machine with every load. It boosts the detergent’s cleaning ability since it is alkaline. The bonus is that it also keeps colors bright and whites stay white. I have a front loader, which is notorious for making whites dingy. Just the other day my grandmother was at my house helping to fold laundry and she said, “Your white clothes are so white. How do you do that?”
I have found a mixture of Dawn dish soap and vinegar to be the best in cleaning showers, tubs, and sinks. Leaves the chrome sparkling and it stays sparkling longer then usual.
I use vinegar for everything from cleaning to disinfecting, along with laundry & simply luv the low cost…..stock up on gallons, always on hand!
I love to use vinegar to help clean things in my home. From coffee pots to counter tops, vinegar removes oils and buildups.
With allergic reactions to a lot of household cleaners, I turn to baking soda and vinegar. Either sure helps with a sour load of laundry.
My favorite cleaning tip is to use a mix of baking soda and dish soap with a drop or two of essential oil (I like orange) to clean sinks, counters, etc. It just smells so good!
A little lemon in the garbage disposal!!!
I’m another vinegar person!! Window cleaner, floor cleaner, bathroom cleaner whatever needs to be cleaned. If greasy add a cople of drops of blue Dawn and your good to go!
Do a little cleaning everyday, so things don’t accumulate. Even 20 minutes helps so much
Dawn dishwashing liquid cleans everything…even the dog!
I have switched to vinegar and water as my go-to cleaner. The commercial cleaners are too strong and almost make me sick when I have to breathe them in. I use a solution of approx 3 Tablespoons to 12 oz. , more or less , of water and wash use on just about everything. It, too, has a strong aroma but at least is natural and subsided fairly quickly!
I keep a bottle of homemade shower cleaner in the shower & I spray down the walls at the end of my shower.
My favorite cleaning tip is to use baking soda and vinegar in my drains to keep them smelling sweet and clean and clogged free
When it comes to laundry, I add 1/4 cup lemon juice to the wash cycle instead of bleach to brighten whites.
I keep diaper wipes handy…they are great for quick little clean up jobs, such as spots on the floor, etc…..if you don’t have time to do more right then.
Way back when I was in High School, I had a summer job as a house cleaner. The lady I worked for had chemical allergies similar to mine, so she made most of her cleaners that we used. Formica was used on most counter tops then and we used a water and oil mixture to clean them. It helped them last longer by not drying them out, and made them smell fabulous. It did not leave a sticky or greasy residue at all and the clothes we used were usually very dirty by the time we were done cleaning.
I use Bartender’s friend for everything. A friend recommended it and it works. I would love to give your product a try. My most difficult area is the tile in the shower.
I clean my windows with vinegar/water and newspapers.
I clean all my windows and door glass with vingar/water and newspaper.
My favorite cleaning tip used to be to spray ink with hairspray before putting in washing machine to get the ink stain out. I did this when I wore white uniforms years ago.
Obviously vinegar is a favourite of many! I use it for cleaning as well as instead of fabric softener. I also like to put a few drops of essential oil on the vacuum bag before vacuuming. Leaves your home smelling wonderful.
White vinegar is my favorite cleaning tip. I use it full strength to clean my coffee pot and diluted with water to clean just about anything else. Works great.
actually the liquid sunshine works well on my garden hands as sometimes you just cant wear gloves to work in the dirt……
I made wool balls for the dryer with leftover 100% wool I wasn’t going to use in any knitting projects. I put a few drops of essential oil on them before popping them in the dryer :0)
If your laundry is nasty (it’s super humid in WI, and gross smells can be an issue) fill up your washing machine with water, add soap, a scoop of Oxyclean, and your clothes and let it sit to soak for a couple hours. Then, during the rinse cycle, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Ahh, heavenly!
Vinegar and baking soda are my favorite cleaners–especially for the oven–put them in the bottom of your oven–leave the light on overnight–wipe it clean the next day.
Yup, I’m a vinegar and baking soda gal! Sometimes some bleach and water in a spray bottle for stains in the sink or tub.
We mix one part water to one part dish soap in a spray bottle to wash one or two dishes quickly, when we don’t have a sinkful yet.
I always try to use natural, organic cleaners on everything. including myself.
Also try to reuse empty jars to save money. The labels were always a pain until I saw
this method on Pinterest. Mix hot water and some baking soda in a bowl, add water to the jar(so it sinks )and leave in bowl for a little while. Label slips right off, and any glue residue left can just be scraped off(including plastic containers). It really works!
I have enjoyed reading and will put into practice these great hints. I like to keep a new paintbrush on hand for dusting crevices on my cabinets. Great for lampshades and other small areas too.
Vinegar is amazing for lots of things… I am anxious to try the paste with vinegar and baking soda on my bathroom sink… thanx for all the ideas… keep up the good work with my very favorite and only magazine…
I use Young Living Thieves cleaner on just about everything, but one good tip is “never put it down, just put it up”. That takes care of clutter.
My favorite cleaning hack is to use 1/4 cup of vinegar in my high efficiency washing machine to clean it once a month. Vinegar is less costly than the commercial washer cleaner, cleans better and is better for the environment.
I’ve never tired it but I’ve order some to try.
I use Dawn dish detergent, peroxide and water in a spray bottle for my go to household cleaner. Even on laundry stains.
Love your magazine💜
I toss leftover lemon orange and grapefruit rinds in a big canning jar with equal parts water and vinegar , I use the citrus liquid in a spray bottle to clean everything , I reuse the same rinds for a few fill ups of the spray bottle, I just add more water and vinegar, smells so good and cleans well.
Equal parts hydrogen peroxide and Dawn blue dishwashing liquid as a fantastic laundry pretreat on stubborn stains.
Pouring vinegar and baking soda in toilet, leaving it for few minutes, lightly brush, flush and you are done!
I always use an old toothbrush to clean around the faucets. It makes it easy to get in and out of the difficult areas.

My best advice came from my mom. Keep it simple–one step at a time and “I didn’t come to see your dirt, but to see you!” Thanks, Mom!
I use vinegar to clean windows – even cleaned the dirt and mildew on some really filthy ground level windows in theis house we recently moved into,
