The winner of our garlic giveaway is …

Bethany H. Lowell, who commented:
“I LOVE GARLIC!!! The last thing my boys (aspiring chefs at ages 12 and 10) and I made was garlic, brown sugar crispy-ish chicken wings. We added a touch of red pepper flakes and white ground pepper for zing! We all enjoy our hard-copy subscription and we thank you for very literally EVERYTHING in each issue!”

Congratulations, Bethany! Watch for an email from the farm.

  4. I use garlic in just about everything!! The last thing I made in my kitchen with garlic would have been ‘garlic butter’ to make garlic bread to go with pasta & meatballs. Butter, fresh pressed garlic, oregano & some basil – mash together with a fork & spread on a loaf of bread & place in over at 350 degrees.

  5. After a large family get-together, we had some hardened butt of roast left in the crock pot with a little bit of drippings. I chopped roast leftovers and added several sticks of celery left from veggie platter. Decided I would throw in the beautiful Italian parsley that decorated the outer edge of the same platter. There was some yellowed, shriveled garlic laying on the cabinet that desperately needed using, that got tossed in the pot too. A small chopped onion completed the pot for now. Cooked all night on low. An hour before lunch, we chopped and steamed leftover carrots from same platter. While they got tender, the large baked potatoes from the party got peeled and cubed and dunked into the fabulously smelling mixture that was simmering in the crock pot. Some pink Himalayan salt and those lucious carrots completed our lunch fare. All organic, of course! It was too yummy for any further discussion. 😉

There were three skillets to scoop from by the time we (finally) ate last Thursday’s baby bok choy with Chinese cabbage, quinoa, & all the peppery “fixins”, partly because I kept finding things to add from the back of the crisper, but mostly because I wanted to save the sizzle of garlic for last, in pan #3. I always burn garlic, so this time I sautéed it last in a separate 6″ mini-pan w chopped crimini, gobs of red onion & … !sesame oil? Nern. I just realized why the whole thing was a ‘wash’. I forgot to add sesame oil. But, hurrah, at least the garlic didn’t burn .
