Civic Inspiration

It’s always a delight to hear from Carrie Meerwarth, Farmgirl Sister of the Year 2009, who I believe is our highest badge earner to date. In the process of earning her Stargazing Chicks badge, she became …

… secretary and treasurer of an Astronomers Club; while earning her Quilting badge, she became the historian of a Quilter’s Guild; for her Public Service badge (requirements listed below), she announced her candidacy for Town Clerk. How cool is that?! Here’s what the news clip she sent me says:

“I’ll bring 25 years business/clerical experience to the Town Clerk’s office, along with a desire to build strong community, and a positive, respectful attitude. My flexibility will allow me to meet needs on weekends, Sundays, or holidays if necessary. I’ll never waste taxpayer money by accepting salary without keeping regular, consistent hours of service. I’ll serve with kindness and respect, restoring healthy, trusting relationships with the community and local leaders. I’ll attend regular municipal clerk training sessions, keeping me current and able to serve the very best way possible.”

She also included four coasters she had made. Ever so cleverly put together, I asked for the pattern. Here ’tis along with a pinwheel pattern:
