  1. Winnie Nielsen says:

These houses remind me of Swiss Chalets in the snowy Alps with their A-Frame shapes. I want to know if birds really live in them during the cold Winter months?

    • MaryJane says:

Most of our song birds migrate south. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them inhabited in the winter other than by chipmunks.

Love the magic of the winter landscape!

  3. Allison Phillips says:

For those of us in Idaho, it has been a long winter. Southeastern parts saw significant inches in 50+ years, I wondered how Mary Jane Farm parts of northern Idaho survived.

    • MaryJane says:

And I love the envelope of news clips that await a Sunday afternoon sit w/tea today. Thank you!!!!!!

      • Lisa Von Saunder says:

Cool. I always think of you when I am reading periodicals. I guess you saw all the stuff on glamping in ” you know who’s mag” ? I think she copied you, but copying is the sincerest form of flattery, eh?

        • MaryJane says:

You mean Oprah? I was so anxious to actually read it but there wasn’t anything about glamping actually. It was merely a come on for how to find your inner self.

          • Lisa Von Saunder says:

yep but they did offer the ” glamping” contest at least, haha. it was the airstreams , etc that got me as imitation of you. You still rule the Glamping movement in my opinion.
ALL YOU FARMGIRLS -LET’S GO GLAMPING!

  2. What a great photo! Shows just how cold it is out. I feel sorry for the bird that surely must be froze out. Hope he head south to warmer weather.

  1. Winnie Nielsen says:

Did you get your first real snow already? This scene makes me think of the upcoming holiday season and gathering by the fire to warm up after being outside for awhile.

This past weekend our PBS station did a continual marathon of all the seasons of Downton Abby. I saw as much as possible and laughed and cried my way from 1907-1929. Julian Fellows is a genius and having been to the village where all the scenes were shot this past September, I enjoyed the series even more!

    • MaryJane says:

It’s snowing right now! Yes, first snow. So thankful for Julian Fellows. Such sanity and a nice respite from too much modern-day yammering. I watched the life of Beatrix Potter last night on PBS. Highly recommend.

  2. Elisabeth Perkins says:

That’s so pretty! Where I live in NC we don’t get snow till January sometimes February!

  3. Lisa Von Saunder says:

Reminds me of my past when one year I worked for a friend who felled trees in Northern New Hampshire in the White Mountains, with get this, a team of horses. He could get in deep in the woods where a skid loader couldn’t . then he cut up the logs and split them and my job was to stack them in perfect cords for selling.I tried doing it the Zen way , kinda like that guy you featuerd who did artwork pictures with the wood.
