Snow angels, you say?

Well, yes, but every angel begins with a … ?

sitzmark.

Yup, sounds just like it looks.

A sitzmark is a depression made by someone falling backward into the snow. The term stems from the German word sitzen (to sit).

I’m partial to the pretty ones left by birds, like this one:

P.S. Remember this cute pic of my Meggie making her (sitz)mark last winter?

  1. Deb says:

We love walking around our property after a fresh fallen snow to see what animals have been about our property while we slept. You never know who/what sitzmark we will find!
Yep, I remember well making snow angels as a kid, then teaching my son when he was a little boy! What fun we had, oh the memories! He will be 40 soon😊

  2. Winnie Nielsen says:

I’ve never seen a bird snow angel. Beautiful! The last snow angel I made was in Iceland last year when we were on a sightseeing journey and stopped during a white out of falling snow. Another friend and I immediately fell on all that fresh snow and made snow angels and caught snow flakes on our tongues like we used to do back in childhood. It felt so good!

  3. Mary Lou Bender says:

How fun! Delightful! Thanks for brightening the day.

  4. Krista says:

It has been so long since I have made a snow angel. Or better yet, a stizmark. I love seeing the different kinds of stizmarks that animals make, especially my dogs. They love to roll around in the snow. I can wait until I can teach my baby boy how to make snow angels and see his cute little stizmark.

  5. Bonnie ellis says:

Love that Kermit the frog. Snow angels are snow much fun!

snowfall forecast

Ooh, I like this one …

If you’re not situated in the snowiest place on earth,

then you may be wondering where—and when—it’s going to snow.

Let me gaze into my crystal snow globe …

Photo by David J Laporte via Flickr

What do I see?

Snow-Forecast.com.

I’ll admit I’ve taken a shine to weather watching (my hubby’s fascination has rubbed off, it seems). I even offer a Farmgirl Sisterhood Merit Badge for Weather.

And, yes, I do love a good snow.

So, according to Snow-Forecast.com, my neck of the woods may get some flurries soon.

How about yours?

  1. Winnie Nielsen says:

Ummmm, not looking good for a snow around here any year soon!

  2. Pamela Criswell says:

Well over a foot here in Northwest Arizona

  3. Brenda White says:

I love a good snow! And living in Michigan we had some moderate snowfall…. The bad part was driving in it this morning while going to work ☃ happy day to all❤️

  4. Krista says:

According to the map, it looks like we will be getting a little bit here sometime in the next 3 to 6 days. I wouldn’t mind getting a bit more snow. It’s been melting here for some time (which is ugly) and there is nothing prettier then fresh fallen snow! Keeping my fingers crossed that this crystal snow globe is correct.

  5. Bonnie ellis says:

It seems to snow a little bit every day here.

Instant Farm

Horse House for sale by owner horse:

It’s true, Willie Neighson, the horse, is the unusual realtor on this farm for sale.

Willie says,

“I’m not a hero …

I just want to help my current owners move closer to their kids.

I’m just like you.

I put my shoes on one hoof at a time.”

photo, http://rarehatch.com/blogs/stories/80146755-why-you-can-now-email-a-horse

That’s right … Willie would love to sell his 20-acre Tennessee “instant farm” to you. “Hay… Hey, I want to make this easy for you. I heard you want to own a farm. Well, why not this one? It includes a pond, gardens, a barn, and best of all … me, a horse.”

Willie and his owners have made a cute informational website where you can tour the farm, order a “from the farm” package of homemade goodies, e-mail Willie (he even has his own personal e-mail address), attend a farm workshop, camp out overnight, and even buy the farm online with just one click!

Check it out at http://rarehatch.com.

  1. Winnie Nielsen says:

Now this is one clever idea! I love this cute little farmhouse and Willie. If I was in the market for a farm, I would definitely follow-up with a visit and tour to the area. It looks charming and truly a sort of turn key option for a farm. I hope Willie gets a new owner soon!!

  2. Deb says:

Wow! Just fabulous and the web site is so beautifully done, home! Oh I would love to have the farm and Willie too. My heart tells me they will sell that wonderful homestead soon to just the right family.
    Thanks for sharing Mary Jane.
    Have a beautiful Sunday.

  3. Totally over the top advertising but charming! I’m sure they will have buyers coming out of the woodwork !
