we’re springin’

The lettuce is peaking, or peeking (o_o),
depending on how you see things.

Snowy Spring

With the first day of spring comes … snow?? All of our new little cow babes are ready to frolic in warm and grassy fields. Poor little sweethearts will just have to wait a little longer …

Love the pictures MaryJane! They definately say “Winter”, and are beautiful, but I am sure that everyone including you, are ready for a “real” Spring. Here in New York, we have been having crazy weather in the opposite way. It has been in the 70’s, just about all week! Mother Nature is certainly keeping us all on our toes. Thanks again for always starting my day off with your “Farmgirl Photo of the Day”. I love when I “power up” the computer and see just what the day’s photo will reveal!
    Hugs,
    Laurie

Now I really like that photo – makes me wish I was at home ‘being’ instead of here ‘working’

Have you heard of a food forest?

There’s a new term tickling the ears of gardeners this spring:

“food forest.”

Tantalizing?

I think yes.

Savor it with me: food forest

It has an intriguing ring to it. When I heard it, I couldn’t help but …

Amping Up for Glamping

We launched our new glamping website last week. Every day since then, we’ve had a six-inch stack of requests for one of our free bumper stickers. Now I’m …

Ok so I must admit that my envelope is in one of those 6 inch stacks of requests for the Glamping bumper sticker! Although I do not own a “glamper” just yet- I am currently scouring thrift stores and gathering the goods to make my own “wall tent” in my backyard for this summer complete with outdoor fireplace for cooking. I am looking forward to sleeping under the stars, and enjoying nature right at home, as I build my little homestead.
Thanks for always being such a great source of inspiration MaryJane!

Ilove this new site. Moscow, Idaho was my stomping grounds for 9 years and I loved every minute of it. Moscow is where I did receive a degree from the UofI however……. I also received my degree in motherhood, gardening, housekeeping, canning and so much more. Mary Janes Farm warms my heart!

  3. flo says:

That stack also includes my request…..I have just joined the Sisterhood and am so excited. So much to look forward to and learn about,,,,

  4. Rere says:

Oh my goodness! My request on the way too!

photo-of-the-day

This is the view my employees see every day when they crest Paradise Ridge, just before they drop down and drive along the dirt road to my farm that meanders along the row of pine trees you see here.

birds of a feather squawk together

A late snow arrived at the farm last week, bringing with it the chirping and rustling of feathers in the nearby apple trees just outside our work-a-day windows. First, there was one ..

innocent and cute looking enough. Then …

Here in Ohio I’ve usually seen a robin by now in my yard, I did see
one at my friend’s house about 6 miles from here. Do you normally
have robins this early? Great pictures.
