What a great photo of this handsome and beautiful Hawk.

Hi MaryJane– It is another day of Farmgirl on the Loose( yes I keep my pin with the logo on my backpack!!!) at the Atlanta airport. Today I am bound for Oklahoma to visit my Folk Art friend who is having a big Open House this weekend highlighting her new art path and name. It should be lots of fun to hang around people who are so creative. I have the latest MJF magazine to read as I wait for my next flight! This Farmgirl is headed for the prairie where cattle graze with oil rigs and the wind blows across our Midwest. I need me some cowgirl boots to better fit in!! Lol!

  2. Lisa Von Saunder says:

Love hawks and the call they make always gives me shivers of pleasure

These flowers remind me of spring Crocus. They are beautiful and apparently tasty according to the tiny butterfly!

  2. CJ Armstrong says:

Beautiful and they do look like spring! I’ve never seen fall crocus!

  3. Lisa Von Saunder says:

Are these fall crocus or saffron crocus ( also blooms in the fall, you pick the stamens which are the saffron )

  4. Elaine Holmquist says:

Fall crocus are where saffron comes from. At today’s prices, grow your own! πŸ™‚

So far, we have only had a few bands of rain and some light winds. Our biggest threat will comet this afternoon when the storm moves up towards St. Augustine and Jacksonville. The Vigil continues.

  2. Marion O'Neill says:

I love birds! What a cute little bird. Good luck Winnie Nielsen. My thoughts and prayers are with all the people the hurricane is affecting. Hope you are safe. πŸ–

Planning an autumn adventure in a national park? FYI, the National Park Service celebrated its 100th birthday in August.

Zion, anyone?

I’ve been to the Great Smokey Mts in the Fall and it is beautiful . All those colors amidst the Blue Ridge Mts. Is a sight to behold .

  2. Krista says:

I love Zion National Park! It’s been about 5 years since we have been there. Looks like it’s time to plan another trip and use these maps as a good resource to find the perfect trails for us! I’m excited to share this information with my family.

  1. Lisa Von Saunder says:

Oh Lord do I love Dahlias!

  2. Elaine Holmquist says:

Dahlias give so much and require so little. I don’t know if contemporary Dahlia bulbs can be eaten, but we can thank the ancient Peruvians for growing them. Such a bounty of friendship from one little tuber or bulb, I can’t remember which.

  3. Winnie Nielsen says:

You grow the prettiest flowers at your farm! I bet a bouquet of them would be perfect on a kitchen table.

This looks to be a working barn still? Nothing like a big red barn to make you feel like the world is still all good.

    • Janice Meyer says:

Don’t know if it is a working barn, no beaten down grass roads looking as if they are driving up to the barn, but this photo is taken from a distance. Could be used for hay storage. It is a beautiful old barn.

  2. Cindi says:

I wonder what it is that is so comforting about a scene like this? At least to me it is comforting. Maybe it is a symbol of endurance, our roots.
