photo-of-the-day

Are you buying your partner some flowers for V-day? (I’ve been known to give my man flowers.) If not, how are you making the day special for your significant other? New fishing gear? Dinner for two—at home? Out? Lunch box love note? Coffee in bed? Breakfast in bed? Homemade card? Nothing:)

  1. Elizabeth says:

I enjoy making Hubby’s favorite baked goods on special days of the year. This year I’m trying to surprise him with some of the newer (to us) dessert recipes found online…But just in case, I bought all of his favorite chocolates; a particular Godiva & these tiny Lindt’s treats:-)

  2. Winnie Nielsen says:

My husband and I have a tradition of exchanging sweet but mushy cards with one another! Kinda old fashion and fun all wrapped up in one!

  3. CJ Armstrong says:

We haven’t been out to eat in ages! We are planning on going to our favorite microbrew pub for pizza and a pale ale. They make the BEST pizza that are not your run-of-the-mill recipes, baked in their wood-fired oven. My kids, who live in Phoenix, say this is the BEST pizza ever! So, add a salad from a local greenhouse and one of Angie’s fabulous, made locally, desserts! Always an awesome treat!
Throughout the day? We’ll probably just lovingly pester each other, as usual!

  4. Terry Steinmetz says:

Jim & I make a meal together and celebrate at home. I make cards & this year is no exception. I also make him some sort of “sweets”. This year it is homemade truffles! Lots of snuggling & laughing over the past Valentine’s secrets. (they never end up being a secret!)

  5. Deb says:

There is no significant other in my life, so I get to spread the love all around! Made heart-shaped cookies, and sent valentines to my family. Tomorrow I will make lunch at home for a recently-jilted friend and reflect on intimacy and solitude. There will be chocolate, of course. Life really is sweet…

Ahhh, those look just like my skates. Unfortunately, we don’t have any ice on the river yet, as it has been warmer than usual. I can’t wait until there is ice to go skating. I enjoy just balancing on the ice! OK so I also like to pretend that I can do all the twirls, jump & fancy feet work. Dreaming is OK., right?

Happy Thesaurus Day!

How many times have you changed your entire sentence because you couldn’t find the right word to describe what you’re trying to express?

Been there, done that. Just a few times.

I do have a secret weapon, though …

Meg, I can so agree with your writing block. Because I don’t write for professional publication or class grade, I have found that it is too easy to rely on saying things the same way over and over. Not good or very useful. When I read over what I have written, I am aghast at how uninspiring and repetitive it all sounds!! The Thesaurus beside the computer is a good idea. I should add one to keep my little dictionary, that I bought last year while doing a MJF badge, good company.

Beautiful Ruins

Beautiful Ruins was one of those books that drops off the shelf and into your hands as you peruse a bookstore. Read ME! it yelled. That’s what I love about a brick and mortar bookstore. The perfect book, at the right moment, always finds YOU.

I’d been daydreaming of a place like the scene on its cover, so I thought I’d see what it was about.

This is another example of serious synchronicity! Don’t you just love it when you find wonderful things right in your own backyard??
