Buy props used in MaryJane’s books and magazine!
5% of profits will benefit www.firstbook.org, a non-profit that provides new books to children from low-income families throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Here’s how:
MaryJane will post a photo and a description of a prop and its cost along with a few details as to its condition here: https://shop.maryjanesfarm.org/MaryJanesCurations. It’s a playful way to be the new owner of a little bit of farm herstory.

I like the look of the bicycles that we all used to ride. I remember getting my first bike at age 5 and riding in the house immediately!
-
This reminds me of what bikes in Florida look like from the ocean salt waters. I take mine with us & after only a month I found rusty spots. 🙁 My bike as a child is like the one I have now & loved it so much. I could ride to all the neighboring farms to play baseball or basketball with the guys, after we did the chores together, of course. If I look in my minds eyes, I can see the group of bikes all lined up along the fences & I can hear all the calls to come & play. Ahh, great memories. I feel sorry for kids today that won’t have those memories for later.

What a pretty girl. I don’t know how long chickens usually live, but I am sure she had the finest of coops to reside in!!

Chipmunks are the cutest! They don’t live in Florida but I always enjoy seeing them when I visit more northern states where they reside!
-
I grew up in Eastern Oregon and I had them come up and take food from my hand and set there and eat it. They are so cute and once when I was in Vancouver B.C. Canada we were watching ships coming into the harbor when I spotted one. So I had some nuts and bent down, held out my hand and even though they were very shy at first they would snatch the nut and run. Pretty soon they were eating right there. When I run out of nuts, I stood up and I had a crowd of people behind me that was watching me feed the Chipmunks. They were commenting that they had never seen that done before. Needless to say this 13 year old was very mortafide that I had drawn a crowd.

Oh what a beautiful calico cat. Is this one yours Mary Jane?
-
How fun. You always hear about people bringing their dogs but I have not heard of cats. Well, my big girl (half border collie) is telling Mom she needs to go out so will stop for now. Such a funny face she has some day I will figure out how to send you a picture.

This pretty kitty looks similar to my pretty girl, Ruby!!

Is that a limb of an apple tree with red apples hanging down?? Hi Mary Jane! I am back from the whirlwind trip to Norway and Finland. Beautiful countries and lots of quaint fishing villages all along the coastline. Fishing is one of the biggest industries in the country and the only way some people make a living in the remote villages above the Arctic Circle. Norway is very expensive and everything gave me sticker shock big time! So, there was not much shopping which is fine with me anyway as the trip cost enough. The larger cities in the south and Oslo are very cosmopolitan and feel quite western. Busy, Big, Bustling, and ethnically diverse. It was quite a trip but this Farmgirl is very happy to be back home. There is nothing like Home Sweet Home!!

I just love the photo of the day. It had two of my favorite things the butterfly and the flowers.
-
Thanks for each day’s photos.
As I sat for 10 minutes the other day in a Secret Garden watching the Bumble Bees , Honey Bees and a lovely Butterfly, my mind was soothed and my body begin to relaxed.
Nature is a true wonder.

Flowers are truly amazing in all of their tiny details. Each type so different and unique but always beautiful.

I love holllyhocks! And so does the bindweed…
-
Reminds me of the hollyhocks along the fence dividing the barnyard and the house yard at my grandparents home. She used some of the flowers to make hollyhock dolls. I have shown my own grandchildren how to make them 70 years later.

I love that truck! It reminds me of the one that my grandpa had on his farm–only his was white! I remember riding around the fields checking on the corn & soybeans, and bouncing along the “road”.

July riding out in style! What a wonderful month! What wonderful memories packed into the days!

Gotta love Chevy’s. My family has been in the Chevrolet business since my grandfather opened the dealership in 1918. Oldest continuous dealership in the world. Our truck is much newer but a big well-loved vehicle for our home and family.
How quaint. I want to sit right down & watch the clouds drift by!
