  1. Winnie Nielsen says:

I am not familiar with these berries because the leaves are not anything I recognize . Let’s see, grapes? Some variety of NW blueberry? Whatever they are, I feel certain they must be delicious and will be making their way into some sort of delectable dessert and canned goods.

  2. Eileen Stone says:

    Oh Elderberries!

  1. Winnie Nielsen says:

I love seeing the birds that live out your way. Since we don’t have them, it is always interesting to learn about the ones that depend on your ecosystem for food. So far, the American Robin is the only one I know that lives both where you do and here in the hot semi-tropical South.

  1. Winnie Nielsen says:

How I love purple iris. And now, I have my FSOTY badge with the purple iris to celebrate always!!

  2. Cindi says:

    From a distance, iris is not my favorite flower. They look weak and … flip-floppy(?) or.. something. (Too early for adjectives.) Maybe I have not ever seen truly healthy, well-cared for plants at the beginning of their bloom. Up close, now that’s another story. They are masterpieces with those beautifully intricate veins starting out tiny from the center and then opening up to pour their deep color into the petals. They look like velvet and I want to touch them to see if they feel like velvet, too. Maybe I will try a plant or two. Sometimes I do change my mind about things. {if you knew me, you would be laughing very hard at that statement :)}

  3. Bonnie ellis says:

Absolutely stunning! Your irises are gorgeous en masse. Ours are just starting to come. They won’t be as beautiful as yours.

  1. Winnie Nielsen says:

Photos from the campfire area where great HoBo dinners and conversation can be had!

  2. Cindi says:

This is like my grandma’s kitchen sink! How I would love to have a sink like that instead of these modern things that have no personality ~ and they are all too high for short little me. Folks knew what they were doing way back when. Lower farmhouse sink, less shoulder strain πŸ™‚

  3. Bonnie ellis says:

I think the caption should be: “why didn’t you tell me this was licorice?”

  1. Winnie Nielsen says:

What a fine bee photo! Beautiful flowering tree as well.

  2. Cindi says:

A sure sign of spring! I met a couple of delightful ladies yesterday for the first time in person at the newly remodeled park ~ they are a part of an online group I have come to know and enjoy. When our laughing, chatting and walking time came to an end I was given a bee balm plant as a surprise nice-to-meet-you gift. I can’t wait for it to flower! I can’t wait for another get-together! Do you suppose that qualified as a jubil-bee? πŸ™‚

Those are gorgeous! Makes me want to run right out and plant some. Alas, I must go to work. Sigh.

  3. Heather (nndairy) says:

Purple is my favorite color. I need to get me some of those beautiful purple tulip πŸ™‚

  1. Cindi says:

Wow! Okay now I have to find me a shot like that! Lots of pictures of bees, birds, fruits and flowers over the years, but I’ve never been lucky enough to catch a bee with pollen shorts like that. A new summer goal. πŸ™‚

  2. Winnie Nielsen says:

Wow, this is just amazing!! The details of the pollen are beautiful.

  3. bonnie ellis says:

What a great picture of how important those insects are to us.

  4. Nancy Coughlin says:

We have nothing in bloom here in NE PA! Had over 4 inches of very heavy snow on Tuesday this week. Sigh! Is Spring really out there somewhere!!!!!? I do hope to see bees this summer. Too many people are so oblivious about out food supply how the system works and all “BIG” agriculture has done to put it at risk. I have to believe that we can turn this around.

  1. Cindi says:

I can’t wait for these cheery little guys to visit my garden again this year. Last summer they “discovered” my yard ~ which is in the early (and painful) stages of becoming a plant-filled haven for both wildlife and humans. It is a long, slow process for one not so young anymore lady to convert fence to fence grass but the reward is great and it is very exciting to see the birds come back day after day to enjoy.

  2. Winnie Nielsen says:

Amazing camouflage! Look at those tiny new green leaves. Spring is on it’s way!

  1. Winnie Nielsen says:

    Here come the daffodils!! Yay!!

  2. Nancy Coughlin says:

Just when snow was melting and flower beds were appearing on the landscape we are getting another 3 to 5 inches of snow! Would love to see a daffodil!
