Here’s how:
MaryJane will post a photo and a description of a prop and its cost along with a few details as to its condition here: https://shop.maryjanesfarm.org/MaryJanesCurations. It’s a playful way to be the new owner of a little bit of farm herstory.

celery
Are you a celery eater?
If not, natural health expert Dr. Michael Murray has five compelling reasons why you should become one.
In a nutshell, he says that celery:
- is high in fiber and nutrients like vitamin C, potassium, folic acid, B vitamins, and calcium.
- contains compounds called coumarins that help ward off cancer and migraines.
- can lower blood pressure and cholesterol. “In an animal study conducted at the National University of Singapore, a small amount of this compound lowered blood pressure by 12 to 14 percent and cholesterol by seven percent,” reports Dr. Murray.
- is beneficial for people with pain of arthritis, fibromyalgia, and gout (well, its seed is, anyway). A study in Australia found that 34 milligrams of the celery seed extract taken twice daily for three weeks reduced patients’ pain scores anywhere from 68 to 100 percent.
- helps replenish electrolytes after vigorous exercise (celery juice is particularly effective because it contains high levels of potassium and sodium).
Celery is one of those foods that you definitely want to buy organic every time. It ranks high on the Environmental Working Group’s Dirty Dozen list (number two in 2013), and USDA tests have found more than 60 different pesticides on celery.
Of course, now is the perfect time to plan for next season’s crop of this fabulous fall-flourishing veggie because in a year from now you could be in celery heaven. Tell me, who among us doesn’t love celery loaded with peanut butter? Or almond butter? Or tahini? Or cream cheese? Or … ? How do you take your celery?

I love celery. So crisp and crunchy and cold! My Mom used to fill celery with egg salad as a salad type dish to go along with dinner. It is perfect for picnics too!
-
We love celery! My hubby grew some in our garden this year as an experiment and we have more than enough for our winter supply in the freezer. Guess the cold zone we live at can still grow some warm zone veggies. I like to make celery with peanut butter or cream cheese & add raisins, cranberries, nuts, etc. Great, now I need a snack.

At our local farmer’s market here in Lancaster County Pa where I live, there is a stand where an old timer sells the best home grown ( and organic) celery you will ever eat. His family has been raising celery and selling it at that stand forever. It is a huge seasonal treat and people line up to buy his crop, which is nicely blanched so it is ever so sweet. I like my celery slathered with natural organic peanut butter, or served in a crystal bowl at Thanksgiving with black olives, radish ” roses”, and carrot slices. Remember when all restaurants served those , not the fattening bread and butter etc? It was just enough crunch to hold you off till the meal arrived. And, if you were a kid, you could put one black olive on each finger and do little finger puppet plays.

Belle of the Ball
We stopped by the farm last week to meet the new baby cow, Eliza Belle. My sister and I had so much fun petting the new calf!
-
These miniatures are the perfect size for little girls to be able to help take care of them and learn all of the animal husbandry skills required for ownership. Eliza is just a darlin’! What a sweet face!!

Meet Alina Kathleen
My DIL, Ashley, and son, Brian, brought their little bundle of baby joy to visit everyone at the farm yesterday.
Alina Kathleen Ogle is a little treasure, born at home, weighing in at 7 lbs. 8 oz.
Look at her … already reaching for the stars. Or would that be a touch-down pass?
She already has a little sass. 😉
Ok, that was exhausting! Back to sleep now …
Nice to meet everyone!

Newborn babies are just the sweetest ever! Alina is beautiful. Before a blink of an eye, she will be joining her other cousins and romping about the farm! Congratulations Brian and Ashley!!!

Babies are so precious :). Love the name, and what a beautiful little girl!

Brian I am so proud of you and Ashley. When you were helping me to get set up and told me how close you were to being a Father I almost felt like I was a Great-Grandma. So Proud, and her middle is spelled the same as my youngest Daughter’s First name. Which some how makes me feel slightly more connected.
Love the pictures. I know Mary Jane you are busting at the seems with pride. Brian you were a God send in helping this old cowgirl. Mary Jane he is the best at helping people you should be proud of his help. -
She is just precious. I know you are all so thrilled. Congratulations!
