  1. Nielsen,Winifred T. says:

Is this a current photo of how the snow is melted? Or just a beautiful fall scene with the hoar frost?

    • MaryJane says:

Older photograph. One can wish, right? We are receiving several new inches of snow as we speak with up to three inches more coming before it realizes March is right around the corner. Or would that be December?

  1. Lynne Baker says:

We live in the northern Sacramento Valley just 12 miles from the Oroville Dam. We were
evacuated for 3 days and are now home living under an evacuation preparedness alert while yet another storm is lashing us with torrential downpour and 30 mph winds. I look at this picture and see peace, serenity, and joy even though it is partnered with freezing cold–mostly quiet serenity–and it brings a smile to my face and joy to my soul!

  2. Nielsen,Winifred T. says:

Ahhh, the annual melting of the snow and the beginning of the spring mud season!

  3. Tammi says:

We are still looking for a piece of property in our area. This definitely has the element of peace, something we all need in this fast-paced world. Thank you.

  4. Michelle O says:

My spirit soared just viewing this – tantilized my senses! ,

  5. Anne Lewandowski says:

I enjoyed the complete magazine from cover to cover. Really unique recipes!!

  6. Frances Skillman says:

I love the art in the magazine. Your old-timey theme is beautiful. What artists you have on your staff!

  7. Beverly says:

    Lemon Wreathe very pretty,
Hope they don’t taste sourly sweet,
The fruit of my wreathe lemons
    Are impossible to eat!

What is this snow covered net? I see a grapevine wreath but cannot figure out the front piece? It is quite beautiful in the details!

    • MaryJane says:

It’s the door to my chicken coop. Yes, a grapevine wreath and then chicken wire. Brrrrr. Good morning Winnie! Have you seen the book People Knitting? If not, I will send you a copy.

  2. Samantha says:

I only saw the chicken wire and not the wreath until I read someone else’s post. It looks really cold there. Here in South Carolina, we have flowers already blooming.

  1. Nielsen,Winifred T. says:

In a cabin in the woods, little man by the window stood.
Saw a rabbit hopping by, frightened as can be.
Help me! Help me, Help me he cried!
Lest the hunter shoot me dead.
Little rabbit come inside, safely by my side.

Do you ever sing that campfire song with your grand girls?

  2. Diana Shelton says:

A beautiful scenery of a tiny cabin all nestled in the woods, between all those luxurious evergreen trees, is very appealing to the eyes and relaxes the mind, spirit and soul. It puts me in awe of the vastness of God’s creation and mans handy work on the quaint cabin in the woods. It reminds me of one of those Thomas Kinkade pictures. Awesome photography capturing natures beauty.

This winter picture looks so calm and peaceful. My dream home is a log cabin. I could see myself there. 🙂

thank heavens gone are the days my windows looked like this. I lived in an uninsulated 1700’s house in Vermont and the ice would form INSIDE the house !brrrrrr!

  2. Nielsen,Winifred T. says:

Whew, the frost and cold has moved in and refuses to leave!

  3. Diana Shelton says:

This picture reminds me of my dads old barn [of days gone by], my siblings and I loved that barn, it was a place of feeding and bedding the animals, putting up hay in the hay loft; but much, much more. It was a place of precious memories. When the barn had to be torn down; before it fell down, we each kept a piece of memory. We made frames out of some of the wood and my sisters kept the window pane frame and put family pictures behind them and hung them on their walls. Which is now a wonderful conversation piece when friends and family stop by.

  4. Miriam Washburn says:

On occasion, when living in California, I would come across the random healthy lemon tree not really being used and pick a few just for fresh lemonade. Most of the time , people use powder mixes. I only like fresh, homemade lemonade and can definitely taste the difference. So, the rare opportunity to pick fresh, untreated lemons is an amazing gift.
